C. Fabius C.f. Hadrianus, 102 BC. Denarius (Silver, 21 mm, 3.85 g, 3 h), Rome. E•X A•PV Veiled and turreted bust of Cybele to right, wearing single pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. C•FABI•C•F Victory driving fast biga to right, holding goad in her right hand and reins in her left; below horses, •E and heron standing right. Babelon (Fabia) 14. Crawford 322/1b. RBW 1177 (same dies). Sydenham 590. A very well struck example with beautiful iridescent toning. A few minor marks, otherwise, extremely fine.

From the collection of Kurt Zimmermann (* 1937) of Winterthur, long-serving numismatist at Schweizerische Kreditanstalt and Leu Numismatik, privately acquired from Schweizerische Kreditanstalt in November 1973, previously privately acquired from Dr. Heinrich Vogt, who acquired it from Hess in 1968.
